Quite clearly one of Blair’s future ASBO beneficiaries, predicted from birth now:

Except under the banned hoodie is cuteness!

2 issues…

1. He has lately become absolutely addicted to his dummy. He reaches out for it all the time. It used to only be used to help him to sleep. Now he sticks it in his gob as soon as he can when not eating or drinking. Clearly I can easily put it out of reach. Happy baby, happy mother though. But I am already minorly concerned about a lack of baby babble, and this can’t help. He’s not exactly making a wide range of vowel sounds yet. Mark and I are planning on getting rid of the dummy after we move to Canada, while we are still both off of work, to deal with the few days of pain that will ensue. But I still don’t like it.

2. He’s starting sleeping on his tummy. One of us goes in to check on him after he falls asleep and puts him on his back, from when this started last week. Last night, I hadn’t heard a peep from him all night, and was awake anyway due to my cold. It was about 3:30 am. He was basically scrunched up in the corner of the cot, on his tummy, knees under him (like he was practicing crawling in his sleep). I put him on his back at the other end of the cot, and I eventually got back to sleep. Mark got up around 6:30 and went downstairs. I was still in bed at 8:15 and realised Oliver had not even stirred yet. Mark comes upstairs and I ask him to check whether or not he is dead. No, not dead, just back in crawling position. That’s the longest he’s ever slept in his own bed on his own. So sleeping on your tummy at 8 months – deadly? Or should I encourage this better sleeping situation? Opinions?

NO, not deadly love! Once they can roll over then the danger has passed. I think boys in hoodies are the cutest thing ever.

That’s right. Once they decide to sleep on their front, even when you put them on their back, then that’s it. Welcome to front-sleeping – and better sleeping on the whole!!

  3. mother of the kid Says:

    Thank you both!
